RE: Let your brakes cool down..but for how long? Tragic

Spend time around any long steep descent you will smell a lot of hot brakes. People drive in overdrive and ride the brakes all the way down. Either they were never taught or never took the time to learn how to control a vehicle.

RE: Brakes Repair - Front Disc F53 MH Chassis

Go to Ford, buy new brake lines. They can collapse from the inside and cause problems.
Go to Napa, buy all new calipers.
Buy speedbleeders and ensure you fully flush all the lines.
You should also clean and repack the front wheel bearings after everything was cooked.

RE: GPS data base..... highway rest areas?

One of GPS features I would like to see is a look ahead function when searching for services. I normally don't care what is behind or 20 miles beside me just what is ahead in my planed route.

RE: GPS data base..... highway rest areas?

In addition to the GPS I like to use the "Next Exit" to find rest stops and services available at interstate exits.

RE: P30 Brakes

Both flex hoses in the front as well as the one on the rear should be replaced. The brake fluid s/b replaced with a high quality DOT 3 or 4 fluid. I would replace both front calipers with new pads. The calipers and pads took the heat from the delaminated hose.

RE: All I do is defrost.

If you are in places with high humidity and open the door a lot you are going to defrost more often. In south Florida thru the winter we defrost about once a month.

RE: IRS Stimulus Check Delay- Direct Deposit

We had our tax accountant do the 2007 taxes for us, as we sold the house and did a ton of other different things before full timing. Because we did not do direct deposit on the taxes, now we have to wait for the stimulus check to arrive. At this rate, it is just going into savings anyway, so I'm not really waiting for it.
If you put it in savings, you are doing the same thing we're doing, but we're not following the rules!
To be an "economic stimulus" it has to be spent.
So go shopping!
I keep telling my DW the same thing, but she says no.
We can spend it all for made in Asia products so that they can buy more oil and raise our fuel prices more.

RE: Heads Up, US Gear Braking System Users

First, I'm posting this here rather than the Dinghy forum because more people "hang-out" here (and a lot of people are getting ready for another season of RVing).
Second, if you have a US Gear Braking System, take the time to check it's operation daily. You can easily do this by using the lever on the driver's control to apply the toad brakes when you're moving 2-4 mph. If everything is working correctly, you will quickly come to a stop.
The reason for this recommendation is that there have been problems (at least a few) with the system's control module. See US Gear Problems for more details. The mode of failure can result in the brakes momentarily applying (you feel the play come out of the hitch), but then the brakes release, thus providing no real help in getting stopped in an emergency situation.
Third, the US Gear Braking System is a good system and well worth having. It does have electronics involved and they can fail. By checking them daily, you can be sure they will be there when you need them.
Don't use the manual lever any more than necessary as it will over heat the control board and blow the drive transistors.
US Gear recommends testing using the breakaway switch.

RE: Update on lightning strike and damage

Before you submit your claim, double check that every thing works.
Check both the AC and DC items. AC's, furnace, tv and booster amp, stereos, Refrig (gas and AC), slides ect. Check both plugged in to AC, 50 amp (if that is what you require) and battery only. You will have trouble trying to claim it later.

RE: New roof time (always, sooner or later)

Yea, the underlayment on a small part of it is puffy. I want to get it off, dry it out and renew it. I could get by with a partial renew since it is just a small section on the front left, and then the area right where the front of the membrane meets the front cap is bubbled, but doesn't seem wet under there, just a big air bubble. I may just patch it but the rest of the roof is discolored from years of not having been cleaned (I just bought this coach last fall) so I'm considering doing it all. If not, I may patch the damaged area and liquid roof it. Is Liquid Roof and Liquid Rubber the same product?
They are the same product same manufacture
